With Borna Barisic expected to depart Trabzonspor after just five months, Philippe Clement’s decision to release the defender from Rangers appears to have been the right one.
According to the Daily Record, Trabzonspor is apparently planning to mutually terminate the Croatian’s contract, and he has only started one league game since moving to Turkey.
His departure from Ibrox in the summer, along with that of John Lundstram, appears to have been justified in one of Clement’s few wise choices.
Borna Barisic’s decision to join Rangers appears to have been justified. Barisic was one of several players whose contracts at Ibrox expired in the previous summer, and at the time, there were occasional doubts about his departure, but the most recent events appear to have dispelled those doubts.
The Croatian was a regular at Rangers since his arrival back in the 2018–19 season, but his performance levels began to decline shortly before his departure.
In addition to Lundstram, he transferred to Trabzonspor, but neither player has performed well enough since joining, thus the move hasn’t worked out.
