Breaking: Lyon faces low-cost January departures, while Newcastle United is on transfer alert…

Newcastle United will be closely observing Lyon, a French team, as they attempt to address their financial predicament.

Due to alleged financial irregularities, the Ligue 1 team has been punished with a transfer ban and threatened with relegation at the end of the season.

After conducting a financial assessment, the French football watchdog, the DNCG, has decided to temporarily demote Lyon to Ligue 2 for the upcoming season unless they can significantly improve their circumstances.

Rayan Cherki, who is connected to Newcastle, is one of the players who might be transferred, which could result in some significant transfer exits during the January transfer window.

According to reports, Lyon’s owner, American billionaire John Textor, is confident in his ability to resolve the team’s problems.

However, this could result in the departure of players like Cherki, Alexandre Lacazette, Malick Fofana, and Corentin Tolisso on reduced fees.

With the exception of Sheffield United’s William Osula, Newcastle decided not to make any forward additions during the summer transfer window.

However, if the perfect target becomes available, they will have funds to spend in the January window.

Cherki has made 11 appearances for Lyon so far this season, contributing three assists and scoring goals in both the Ligue 1 and Europa League.
