Additionally, we’re learning a little bit about the way of living in that era the Manchester club was in severe financial problems when Leicester Fosse travelled north to play Newton Heath in 1901, but we’re going to start 42 years earlier and finish 49 years later.

Three years in a row during Queen Victoria’s reign mark the beginning of this story. A rugby league team named Broughton FC began playing at a sports complex just north of Manchester’s downtown in 1869.

James was the name given to the baby born to the Atter family in Stamford in 1870. The McClure family called their baby Joseph after him when he was born at Upper Broughton, near that new rugby league stadium, in 1871. We’ll see each one through to its completion.

Naturally, the origins of Leicester City did not begin until 1884, when Leicester Fosse made their debut on a pitch off Fosse Road South.

They competed against local teams in their early days, including the Syston Fosse team, whom they beat 5-0 in their opening match  However, football quickly expanded and became more organised, and in 1891, Leicester Fosse joined the Midland League.
