Breaking news Prior to Sunderland, the Coventry City manager updates Ellis Simms and Norman Bassette’s injuries…

Prior to Saturday’s trip to Sunderland, Mark Robins acknowledges that he must wait and see how his injured Coventry City forwards Ellis Simms and Norman Bassette are feeling.

The absence of both players for Wednesday night’s game against Derby County at CBS Arena, which saw the home team lose 2-1 in a subpar display, was a “big blow,” according to the Sky Blues manager.

Bassette suffered an elbow to the head that left him with a lump and maybe a whiplash injury, which prevented him from playing against the Rams. Simms missed last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough due to a foot issue.

Robins responded, “No, nothing as yet,” when asked whether there was any positive news regarding Simms, who joined the Sky Blues after spending a half-season loan at the Stadium of Light.

We will have to wait and watch since it just depends on him and how he handles the discomfort. However, it was a major setback that he and Norman were absent tonight.
