NEWSWEEK UPDATED NOVEMBER 03, 2024 8:54 AM BY LYDIA MEE At the Ford Performance Nationals, which took place at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, racing icon and NHRA Funny Car driver John Force returned to the drag racing world.

Force gave an update on his recuperation from a catastrophic brain injury he suffered in a crash in June 2024 during the event.

CpRecuperation has been a difficult journey. After the collision, Force was transported by air to a hospital in Virginia. He was in critical care for more than two weeks, first in the Trauma ICU and then, when his health started to improve, in the Neuro ICU.

Before going back to California for outpatient therapy, the patient underwent intense rehabilitation, initially at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix to address cognitive and physical issues. Force’s family came together to support him at this trying time.

His wife Laurie and daughters Courtney Force Rahal and Brittany Force in particular were unwavering in their support.
