Just in Hamilton, Russell mentions an unforeseen problem that costs Mercedes money in Brazil…

The 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix Sprint Qualifying did not go as Mercedes had intended  In SQ2, Lewis Hamilton had already been eliminated, and George Russell was unable to compete with his competitors who finished ahead of the British driver at Interlagos  this is the response from the German team after their performance.

Although both Mercedes drivers have pleasant memories of Brazil because Hamilton won his first title in Sao Paulo in 2008 and George Russell won his first Formula One Grand Prix here, things did not go their way this Friday.

“I have had a challenging day as he stated in his last message over team radio that he is “in pain,” Hamilton remarked, “I think the ride on the bumpy surface has been pretty bad for everyone, and it made FP1 very challenging inside the cockpit Hamilton was only able to place eleventh in SQ2.

In the team’s report, he added, “We lifted the car during the break and made things better, but the pace just wasn’t there when it came to the timed laps.

The car is really difficult to drive and the balance is precarious, so I couldn’t attack any of the corners as I wanted to.”

“I hope we can move forward from P11 during the Sprint and keep working to figure out how to find the sweet spot of the balance in qualifying tomorrow afternoon,” said the seven-time world champion.
