The English strategist is still unemployed following his challenging stint at Chelsea, but his performance at Brighton has kept him well-regarded in the industry. In recent months, iNews and other outlets have made several links between Potter and Manchester United. Potter, 49, has acknowledged having numerous chats, most of which he would prefer to keep private. Potter, however, also chuckled at some of the rumours that had surfaced, pointing out that he had also been connected to a number of positions, including Stoke City and Napoli, shortly after one another.
Dan Ashworth, who recently moved to become a director at United after working well with Potter when they were both at Brighton, was also lauded by Potter. Potter said Sky Sports, “I am the only coach in world football to be linked with Stoke City and Napoli in the same week,” when speaking about the United position. “Many of the things I’ve read in the media are inaccurate and misleading. I exercise caution when believing anything the media says. I’ve spoken with a lot of individuals in a lot of conversations. “It’s best I keep it private for everyone’s respect.”
