Breaking Middlesbrough lost to Derby County on Saturday, their first loss of the year.

The Teessiders had a great opening to their campaign. Last Saturday, Michael Carrick witnessed Middlesbrough defeat Swansea City 1-0, snapping a 10-year streak of losing on the opening weekend. On Wednesday, the Reds went to Elland Road for a League Cup match, which Middlesbrough won three goals to nil over Leeds United. The North East team was predicted to easily defeat Paul Warne’s Derby County team following such a strong start. The Blackburn Rovers, who placed in the bottom half of the division the previous season, handed the Rams their fourth loss in their first game back in the Championship.
