After making it through the group stage in July, Dundee United will be looking to extend their Scottish League Cup run when they play again on Sunday. This is in spite of the fact that Jim Goodwin’s team lost their opening game to Falkirk. They won their next three games against Stenhousemuir, Ayr United, and Buckie Thistle, respectively, winning 3-0, 2-1, and 5-2 to secure second place and earn a spot among the top runners-up. Livingston was eliminated from contention on goal differential. Following that cup victory, the Tangerines began their Scottish Premiership comeback after finishing first in the previous season’s second division. They opened the campaign with a 2-2 draw at home against rivals Dundee, having taken the lead twice through Miller Thomson and Kristijan Trapanovski.
