BREAKING NEWS: Inter Miami CF Academy’s May/June International Window Roundup

Several Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health players have been on international duty with their national teams over the last month. Let’s take a look at our Academy players who were summoned for international duty and how they performed abroad.

 

The United States U-15 MYNT has called up Zidane Cadet for the Vlatko Markovic Tournament in Croatia, which runs from May 15 to 19. The U-15 MYNT finished the tournament with two victories and one loss in group play before defeating Japan 1-0 in the final to claim the title. Notably, Cadet scored the team’s opening goal of the tournament in a 2-0 victory over Croatia. The team’s earlier results before winning the final included a hard-fought 4-3 loss to England and a 4-2 victory over Morocco.

 

Victor Fung, an academy defender, represented Venezuela’s U-17 squad at the Torneo Internacional Canteras de América, which was place in Rosario, Argentina, from May 10 to 18, and featured elite national teams and club clubs from South and North America. Fung was a key player for Venezuela throughout the competition, featuring in all matches as the team finished third, and scoring the team’s goal from the penalty spot in the 1-0 victory over Palmeiras in the third-place match. La Vinotinto won their group and advanced to the Gold Phase of the tournament with 3-0 wins over Peñarol, a 1-1 draw against Estudiantes de La Plata, and a 1-0 loss to Colo Colo. However, they lost on penalties.
