Scott McKenna, a former Aberdeen defender who left Nottingham Forest, is now a free agent.

After spending almost £3 million to join Forest from the Dons in September 2020, the center back spent his four years there helping the team win back-to-back Premier League titles.

Scott McKenna is the latest Scotland squad member to become a free agent ahead of Euro 2024 after Nottingham Forest confirmed the defender’s departure following almost four years at the City Ground on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old centre-back joined the East Midlands club in September 2020 from Aberdeen for a fee of around £3 million.

McKenna made 106 appearances for Forest and helped them win promotion to the Premier League from the Championship during the 2021/22 campaign.

However, he fell out of favour during the season just finished and spent the second half of the campaign on loan at FC Copenhagen.

Forest announced on Wednesday that McKenna would be leaving upon expiry of his contract this summer, along with Harry Arter, Wayne Hennessey, Cheikhou Kouyate, Loic Mbe Soh and Felipe.
