BREAKING NEWS: Cole Palmer identifies the 20-year-old Chelsea standout as one to watch next season.

Cole Palmer feels Chelsea fans will realize how talented Romeo Lavia is next season after missing almost the entire previous season due to injury.

While Palmer couldn’t have asked for a better season, Lavia couldn’t have had a worse one, with injuries restricting him to only 32 minutes of play for the Blues.

Lavia joined Chelsea from relegated Southampton last summer, fending off competition from Liverpool for the talented Belgian in a Β£58 million package.

There were great expectations for the midfielder upon his arrival, having previously shone out for a struggling Southampton side, and he particularly shined in both games against Chelsea in the 2022/2023 season, as the Saints accomplished a double over the Blues.

The 20-year-old hopes to play a larger part under new manager Enzo Maresca, whom he knows well from his time at Manchester City’s academy.

The Blues have a very strong roster, and Maresca, who has agreed to a five-year contract with the club to succeed Mauricio Pochettino, is the man tasked with making the most of it.

In fact, star performer Palmer has singled out Lavia as one guy who, when Chelsea supporters see him properly next season, they will believe he is really excellent.

“One of the best players I’ve played with is Romeo Lavia,” Palmer told Sport Bible.

“We’ve not seen him this season because he’s been injured for a full year but I think he’s one that, when he gets playing everyone will think, ‘Oh, he’s really good.”
