BREAKING NEW: Rangers sign 46-cap veteran on their second summer agreement.

Six senior players were out of contract at the conclusion of the season, and a wealth of experience has left their lockers at Auchenhowie empty.

At one point, it appeared that none of the players would be handed new contracts; nevertheless, Rangers has revealed that Leon Balogun will be part of Philippe Clement’s revolution next season.

The huge Nigerian is a popular figure among the supporters, and despite defeat, the 35-year-old was still professing his love for the club following disappointment at Hampden.

“We’ll see what the future holds.”

“First and foremost, I must deal with this defeat, try to relax for a while, and see what the coming weeks bring.

“I stood here two years ago and very much opened up about how much I adore the club, and nothing has changed.

“So definitely there’s an openness but again for me I have to digest today and then we’ll see.”

Negotiations with Balogun appear to be as smooth as they were last summer, with the experienced defender simply signing the contract with no questions asked.

He is one of the rare players who, while never being a Rangers fan, understands that the only route forward after leaving is down the road.

The massive defender’s main regret is that he did not relocate to Ibrox earlier:
