BREAKING NEWS: Lionel Messi fan vents dissatisfaction with unusual sign after spending over $5000 to watch Inter Miami superstar in action, only for Argentine to sit out Vancouver Whitecaps showdown.

A unhappy Lionel Messi fan vented his rage with a one-of-a-kind sign after spending over $5000 to not see the Inter Miami star play.

More than 50,000 tickets were sold for the Herons’ MLS match with the Vancouver Whitecaps on Canadian turf. Many of those in attendance had spent money on experience passes in the hopes of seeing eight-tie Ballon d’Or winner Messi in action.

However, they were dismayed to learn that the all-time great, along with fellow former Barcelona stars Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets, was not named in Tata Martino’s travelling group. Inter Miami decided to rest the distinguished three in order to manage their various workloads.

The decision did not go over well in Vancouver, with supporters ready to express their displeasure. Some altered their jerseys, replacing Messi’s name with the phrase ‘Missing’, while another created a homemade placard stating how he spent $4900 on airfare, tickets, food, and lodging only to have the purportedly star attraction remain in Florida.

Inter Miami makes no apologies for making decisions that are in their best interests, and there are no guarantees that Messi will appear in all of their games, but Martino expects his talismanic captain to be available again for back-to-back home games against Atlanta United and St Louis City.
