Just In: Brendan Rodgers evaluates Celtic’s prospects of signing. Adam Idah continuously raves about big game star.

Brendan Rodgers has responded to whether he would be able to sign Norwich City loanee Adam Idah permanently after Celtic won the Scottish Cup with a huge win over Rangers.

A late goal from the on-loan striker secured a 1-0 victory for the Hoops, giving Parkhead a double after winning the Premiership title a week earlier. Rangers controlled huge chunks of the game, but they failed to capitalize on their opportunities, thus Celtic took their one big shot.

It was another key goal for Idah, who has nine goals for Celtic after joining on loan from Norwich City until the end of the season. Rodgers was asked after the game if he felt the team will be able to finalize a permanent contract this summer. He replied: “I’m not sure. The board will have a look at it. They (the board) are aware of my feelings toward Adam. It’s the reason I invited him in.

“He’s been a huge catalyst for us, especially in the last six months. I knew what I was getting. I saw him live in the Premier League. He was 18 years old at the time and possesses all of the characteristics. I believed that with improved placement, he would achieve his aims. He has scored goals since his arrival.

“Different types, amazing headers, great movement in the box, pressure moments, penalties, and tonight he was like a number nine sniffing around the box for anything that slipped through. So he’s been fantastic for us, and he’s definitely someone I’d like to work with.”

According to Rodgers, Idah’s story is the stuff of dreams. He explained, “He was quite clear about the role coming in. He understood how I planned to use him over this time period. He’s been an excellent team player. All of the players adore him, but what I particularly admire about him is that he is an avid gamer. So many big moments have risen to the occasion. A boy from Ireland plays as a striker and scores a goal in the Scottish Cup final versus Rangers. Wow, what a summer he’ll have.”
