“Inconclusive Business – Coventry City: rumors of Mark Robins joining Burnley played down

Mark Robins, the manager of Coventry City, is apparently being considered by Burnley as a replacement for Vincent Kompany.

The Clarets were promoted to the Premier League after winning the Championship title with an impressive 101 points last season, and many had expected them to seamlessly make the step up to the top flight, but it did not work out that way.

Burnley were relegated after losing 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, and they will finish their miserable season at home against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Given his performance in the Championship in 2022/23, it was likely that Kompany would stay at Burnley, but according to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, the Clarets are exploring a management change, and the Belgian is also evaluating his future.

Kompany is apparently on the radar of Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford, both of which could lose their managers this summer. If he leaves, Coventry City manager Mark Robins, as well as Birmingham City coach Ashley Cole, are being considered as prospective replacements.

Robins has done a fantastic job since returning for a second time at the CBS Arena in March 2017, guiding the Sky Blues from League Two to the brink of the Premier League, and while his team did not make the play-offs this season, they did reach the FA Cup semi-finals.

Neil Littlewood, FLW’s Coventry City fan commentator, is unconcerned by Burnley’s interest in Robins, and believes Manchester United is the only team that might pull him away from the Sky Blues.

It is impossible to disagree with Neil when he says that Burnley is unlikely to turn Robins’ head.
