According to The Athletic, the Argentine will not go with the Inter Miami squad to Orlando after being ruled out with a knee injury. Messi sustained the injury during the team’s 3-2 victory over CF Montreal last week.

Until recently, the World Cup-winning Argentina captain had missed four games for the Herons this season, with all four coming in March. During that time, the David Beckham-owned team struggled, losing twice, drawing once, and winning just once.

The 36-year-old has been in excellent form in his second season in MLS, having scored 10 goals and assisted on 12 others in nine league games. On May 5, he became the first player in MLS history to record five assists in a single regular season game against the New York Red Bulls.

After defeating their opponents on Thursday, Gerardo Martino’s team will face DC United in an MLS match on May 19.
