Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has threatened to launch an offensive in Rafah, southern Gaza, ignoring calls for prudence.


He stated that Israel will annihilate Hamas units there “with or without a deal” that is now being negotiated in Cairo.

Israel and Hamas are negotiating a cease-fire accord that would liberate detainees and provide assistance to Palestinians in the beleaguered enclave.


“It is impossible to believe that we will end the war before it has achieved all of its objectives. “We will enter Rafah and eliminate Hamas battalions there, with or without a deal, to achieve total victory,” Netanyahu declared during a meeting with families of captives held by militants in Gaza.


Earlier, the

US increased pressure for a ceasefire in Gaza in response to a fresh Hamas plan and ongoing Israeli air attacks.
