Hibs triumph with little satisfaction – talking points as Monty’s men crush Saints.

When there is nothing tangible to play for, satisfaction must be found in the less evident benefits of watching football. It’s not easy. As Hibs supporters will attest.

 

Caught between a need to believe that everything might, perhaps, eventually be all right and the cold stark reality of following a team relegated to the bottom six of a far-from-vintage Scottish Premiership, the small knot of traveling supporters who ventured to Perth yesterday at least expressed some appreciation for Nick Montgomery’s men’s performance. In a season with few high spots, a 3-1 victory over St Johnstone ranks as a fantastic day out.

However, the uncertainty surrounding Hibs right now makes it tough for anyone to really relish even a comfortable win over Craig Levein’s squad. With Monty’s own fate still uncertain and a huge summer change of the squad scheduled, any hope in the ranks is understandably hazy
