Neil McCann says Philippe Clement is not under any pressure despite first declining to shake Don Cowie’s hand during Rangers’ shocking 3-2 defeat to Ross County on Sunday, April 14.
The Gers boss was chastised after a wild run for the tunnel at full-time, missing a hug with the Staggies’ head coach as Rangers failed to keep pressure on Old Firm rivals Celtic.
However, Le Souness then posted film on X showing the Belgian returning from greeting Cowie while the County manager handled media obligations.
When asked if the strain was getting to Clement, McCann told FootballScotland on Tuesday (16 April): “Absolutely not.” As a former Rangers player, I understand the pressure and can only imagine how hard it must be as a manager.
“I don’t think he’s losing his head. People can check into what he has said, but I believe he has remained quite consistent.

Shaking hands with the opposing manager is a symbol of respect, and it has always been the practice in football.
While fans had every right to be upset with Clement’s initial behavior, the Rangers manager corrected his error after fleeing after the stunning defeat.
