Ravens WR Zay Flowers Responds to Division Rival Bengals’ Fan

X (previously Twitter) is still the scene of ongoing division rivalry, even if it’s the offseason. Furthermore, it appears like wide receiver Zay Flowers of the Baltimore Ravens is engaging in back-and-forth with a Cincinnati Bengals fan, their division opponent.

Ravens WR Zay Flowers evades tackle against division rival Bengals.

Dre WHO DEY, a Bengals fan, wrote on Saturday, April 13, “Saw Zay Flowers.” I had to tell him that we were bussin’ yo ass this year [tear face emoji] yesterday at Coachella.

“Cap [crying face emoji] you said don’t do us bad!!” was the Ravens receiver’s response, suggesting that the exchange may not have gone precisely as planned.

Although the Bengals fan has not yet replied to the NFL receiver, the tweet has received over 37,000 views, suggesting that Ravens supporters are taking offence at their division opponent.

This season, the Ravens were the AFC North’s dominant team, taking first place with 13 and 4. The playoff teams who placed second and third, respectively, were the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns.

The Bengals, who finished above.500 at 9 and 8, did so despite missing QB Joe Burrow for a large portion of the season. They were the only AFC North club that did not make the playoffs.

The Bengals advanced to the Super Bowl in 2021–22, making it three seasons in a row that an AFC North club has appeared in the AFC championship game. The matchup between the two squads should be fierce when Burrow is fully recovered.

Ravens Swept the 2023 Season With the Bengals

The Bengals are among the NFL’s most fearsome teams when healthy, thus both Flowers’ and the Bengals’ fan postings were accurate. However, that did not prevent the Ravens from defeating their AFC North rivals and winning the season series.

Week 2 was the sides’ first meeting, and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson had one of his greatest performances of the year there. With two throwing touchdowns, 237 yards, and 54 running yards, Jackson finished 24-33.

After containing Burrow for the most of the game and picking him off, the Ravens triumphed 27–24. Week 11’s second meeting between the clubs was even more lopsided.

The Ravens prevailed 34–20, although both sides sustained significant injuries. Burrow suffered a hand injury that sidelined him for the Bengals, while TE Mark Andrews of the Ravens was gone for the season.

But the Bengals have had trouble against the Ravens even before this season, especially when Jackson is in uniform. When Jackson takes the field, he is 8 and 1 versus the Bengals since taking over in 2018.

With a potentially better Ravens squad in 2024, Cincinnati will likely continue to struggle to find solutions for the two-time MVP for some years to come.
