Tyler Glasnow blended dominance and efficiency in Tuesday night’s triumph against the Twins, striking out the most Dodgers pitchers in four and a half years while finishing seven innings on just 88 pitches.

Glasnow’s 14 strikeouts made headlines, and fairly so, as they tied his career high, which he had previously achieved with the Rays in 2021 and 2023.

Glasnow attacked the strike zone, throwing only 23 balls in 88 pitches and inducing 21 swinging strikes, the most by a Dodger pitcher this season. Twelve of those swinging strikes came on the fastball, six on the slider, and three on the curveball.

“He was dominant,” catcher Will Smith told Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA after the game. “His fastball was pretty outstanding. He was in complete control of his silder and curveball, making it quite difficult for them. He just kept executing pitches. “That was really fun.”

Only 17 pitchers in Dodgers history have struck out at least 14 in a game. Sandy Koufax has 13 such games, Brooklyn’s Dazzy Vance had seven, and Clayton Kershaw had six

Walker Buehler recorded the Dodgers’ most recent high-strikeout games, striking out 16 and 15 in two 2019 starts.

However, Glasnow’s zero walks place him in an even smaller category in franchise history, joining only seven pitchers who have made ten total starts, including Koufax’s perfect game and Kershaw and Nap Rucker’s no-hitter.

Dodgers have 14+ strikeouts and no walks in a game.
