With Tony Pollard gone to Tennessee, the Dallas Cowboys need a running back, and almost every mock draft suggests the team will solve the shortage early in this month’s NFL selectionโusually in the second round, where top backs Jonathon Brooks or Trey Benson can be found.
However, there will be players available beyond the top two or three backs in the draft, and it is worth noting that Pollard was drafted in the fourth round in 2019. According to a seven-round Cowboys mock draft from the website 24/7 Sports, the Cowboys will select Benson in the third round and Rasheen Ali of Marshall in the seventh.
This is what 24/7 wrote about Ali.
Cowboys in Line for Day Three ‘STEAL’
Nagy, who has been an NFL scout for 18 years and has run the Senior Bowl for the past six seasons, has previously commented on Ali as a possibility. Unfortunately, Ali tore his biceps during the Senior Bowl and was unable to compete in the Combine, but he made an impact. Obviously, the Cowboys are interested.
Last week, Nagy wrote on Twitter/X that Marshall RB Rasheen Ali will be a Day 3 ๐๐๐๐ผ๐ for certain teams. I see nothing on here about Ali, but he was boiling Top-100 prospects (below) with his spectacular COD abilities at the @seniorbowl before sustaining an arm injury. @fsosheen1 has approximately as much juice on film as any RB.
