Celtic will need to make some major additions to their team during the upcoming summer transfer window. It is evident that the Hoops have allowed the Rangers to close the gap between the two Glasgow heavyweights, if not lead. Regardless of whether Brendan Rodgers’ club wins any trophy this season, they must enhance the roster.

Celtic will undoubtedly want the services of a goalkeeper. Joe Hart will retire from the game at the end of the season, at the age of 37.

The club signed Hart from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2021. While many questioned the purchase, the Englishman has been Celtic’s number one goalkeeper for the last three seasons.

Hart has had his fair share of detractors, but no one can deny that he has been an important part of this squad for the past three years, both as a player and as a leader. So Celtic will have some large gloves to fill in the summer, and it appears that they are already taking moves in that direction.

According to Taka Gazete, Ugurcan Cakir has been on Celtic’s radar. In an official e-mail signed by club CEO Michael Nicholson, he informed Trabzonspor management of his intention to begin transfer discussions for the goalie.

Cakir is the Turkish national team’s goalkeeper. At 28 years old, he is also in his prime and should be able to go in and establish himself as a starter immediately.
