At New Chitose Airport on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido on Tuesday, a Korean Air Lines aircraft clipped a Cathay Pacific Airways aircraft, according to a Korean Air spokesperson.

The company that runs New Chitose Airport, Hokkaido Airports, states that they were notified about the incident at approximately 5:30 p.m. local time.

According to an airline official, the incident occurred as the Korean Air aircraft was getting ready to take off.

According to STV Japan, there were 289 passengers on board the Korean Air aircraft, but no casualties have been recorded.

Because of the icy weather in the area, the airport has had to cancel over 46 flights today alone.
