Brian Deane, a former striker for Leicester City and Leeds United, thinks the Foxes are no longer “nailed on” for Championship promotion.

The 56-year-old believes that four clubs are included in the promotion picture, with Southampton and Ipswich Town vying for the final two spots, while Leeds and City presently hold the automatic spots.

The Foxes came into 2024 with a ten-point lead over second and a margin of 13 clear of the play-off pack. But the situation at the top of the table has become more precarious due to a return of just four of the final fifteen points that were available.With nine games remaining, Southampton can catch up to City and move to within six points. Leeds, having played one more game, are now leading the table, and Ipswich are just one point behind. Former center forward Deane expressed his optimism for Leeds’ chances to succeed on talkSPORT, saying, “I can’t quite believe the [Leeds] run, to be honest.
