For the third time in as many months, Chelsea is reportedly sending scouts to observe Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres. Following his departure from Coventry City at the end of the previous campaign, the 25-year-old has been dominating in Portugal, and it is rumored that Premier League interest is already being expressed in him ahead of the summer.
As a result of his 36 goals in all competitions for Sporting this season, Gyokeres has become one of Europe’s most prolific attackers. According to Record, Chelsea, who have been big fans of the Sweden international, recently dispatched scouts to observe him for the third time since the end of the previous season.
During Sweden’s Thursday loss to Portugal, it is rumored that Chelsea officials were present to oversee Gyokeres. Although he scored the first goal of the game and kept his team in the game, his team lost 5-2 that evening.
Chelsea had been watching Gyokeres when he played for Sporting against Porto and Benfica, and the Blues had used their scouting missions to take note of and dispel doubts about a possible summer transfer. They’re said to have tightened their grip on the forward before making an official offer in advance of a new window.
