Leeds plans a deal for a unique talent amid claims of an £80 million release clause, shattering Liverpool’s and Manchester United’s ambition

Only a few weeks after tying the young player down to a new contract, Leeds United is reportedly intending to offer Archie Gray another contract this summer in an attempt to stave off interest from teams like Manchester United and Liverpool.

Following their three-year stint in the Premier League, the Whites were demoted to the second division, which resulted in the mass departure of several well-known players. But a new hope has emerged at Elland Road, and Leeds United is playing well thanks to a new look that was created by director of football Nick Hammond and manager Daniel Farke.

With the exception of a draw at Huddersfield, the Whites have won 12 of their 13 Championship games since the beginning of the season. This incredible run of play has propelled the team to the top of the table and significantly aided in the whirlwind of a massive 17-point lead held by long-time leaders Leicester City.

Originally a midfielder, Gray moved to right-back in the fall and hasn’t looked back. He’s established himself as one of the first names on the roster and his play has contributed to the departures of Djed Spence and fan favorite Luke Ayling in January.

However, such form by the teenager, who last week turned 18, has brought attention from a raft of big-spending sides, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City among the sides to have noted Gray’s rise.
