In a bid to bolster emergency response capabilities, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has appointed 1342 individuals into the Benue State Fire Service. The announcement, made by the organization’s management yesterday, March 19th, 2024, marks a significant investment in public safety.

The successful candidates, hailing from all 23 local government areas of the state, are set to receive their engagement letters at the Benue State Fire Service Department Headquarters located on Barracks Road, Makurdi. The distribution of these letters will take place over three days, organized by geographical zones.

Zone A candidates will collect their letters on Monday, March 25th, 2024, followed by Zone B on Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, and finally Zone C on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024.

This move not only strengthens the state’s firefighting capabilities but also provides gainful employment opportunities for Benue youths. Governor Alia’s proactive approach to addressing unemployment deserves commendation, as it contributes to the socioeconomic development of the state while ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.

The employment of such a large number of individuals into the Benue State Fire Service underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing emergency response services. It is anticipated that the newly appointed personnel will undergo rigorous training to effectively handle fire incidents and other emergencies, further elevating the state’s emergency preparedness and response mechanisms.
